In 2004 London Distribution approached PDI Spirit to develop a mobile delivery system for use with one of their major clients. With over 20 years experience in the requirements of the next day delivery networks we were pleased to win the contract to fulfil their requirements.  The LD-Palm delivery system is used by their drivers to deliver parcels in to retail sites, gain printed name and signatures for the deliveries. It also needs to handle the scanning of collections from the delivery point, so that these can then be tracked back to their clients distribution centre.

The LD-Palm delivery system comes in two parts:-

Desktop: the desktop application allows for the retrieval of consignment details from the client. Although the consignments are automatically routed, the manager can override these and move consignments between vehicles and rounds.

Data is synchronised using the desktop application which transfers the consignments to be delivered to the mobile device and will retrieve the proof-of-delivery consignments and collection details at the end of the day once the drivers have returned.

Palm application: The mobile device runs on the Symbol SPT1800 device which includes a built-in barcode reader, which can be used to scan and check the Parcels being delivered as well as scan the collections to be returned.
